If you are attempting to import to your hosted WordPress site from WordPress.com via RSS, and you have entries with the <!–more–> tag, the feed will not display anything after <!–more–>, so that portion of the posts will not be imported.
Here’s what to do:
- Get the full RSS feed saved locally, and open it in TextPad.
- Hit F8 to do a find-and-replace, using this find string:
\(#more-[0-9]+">\)\(\)and this replace string:\1Read More...\2 - Proceed with the import
- Leave your WordPress.com blog in place.
It’s not ideal, but this will make it possible for your readers to find the rest of those old imported entries. The read more link will point to your old WordPress.com blog.
